Amisfield Riesling Central Otago Dry 2007
Amisfield Farm is located 7km north of Lowburn near the shores of Lake Dunstan in Central Otago. Amisfield have 60 hectares of vineyards. High altitude, cool climate, long summers, and clean soils allow the winery to produce some of the best Pinot Noirs and aromatic white wines in New Zealand. Yields are kept low to provide concentrated fruit flavour with complexity derived from the range of sites within the vineyard. The winemaking approach is one of minimal intervention. This Dry Riesling is a wonderful aperitif or complement creamy foods. It provides an interesting counterpoint in texture to poultry, grilled fish or spicy Asian inspired cuisine. It has alluring perfumes of apples & citrus blossom, through to grapefruit and honey, to biscuity mineral aromas while the palate is both taut yet mouth-filling. This wine has great flavour intensity while maintaining the elegance, finesse and character of the noble Riesling variety. Drinking well while young, this dry white wine will develop complexity and character as it matures in bottle over the next 5 - 8 years.
Amisfield is a specialist producer of Pinot Noir, aromatic whites and Methode Traditionelle sparkling wines. Located 10 minutes drive from Queenstown, the winery at Lake Hayes features a wine tasting room and country style Bistro serving a daily changing menu of organic and locally sourced produce.
