Amisfield Pinot Noir Central Otago 2015

Winemaker's Notes:

"Medium ruby-purple colored, the 2014 Pinot Noir gives a nose of black cherries, red currants and red plums with hints of underbrush and violets. Medium-bodied, it delivers a lot of red and black berry character supported by soft tannins and plenty of freshness, finishing earthy." -Robert Parker, Wine Advocate *(90 Points)*

Light and fresh on the nose, with sweet wild red currant tones backed up with herb, spice, and subtle vanilla notes. With air, this just gains focus and freshness while adding a touch of mint and mineral. Elegant in the mouth with real finesse and superb balance, this unfolds in the mouth with a really refined feel that builds on the polished tannins. This is very precise and detailed in the mouth, with bright, vivid wild berry fruit framed by mineral tones that drive the zesty, medium-length finish. Lovely purity and vibrancy. 92pts

A bit of a jammy smell, but it did not have the overwhelming fruit on the palate. There is a dark fruit component to the taste, but what really showed through was cedar and a pleasant finish that still showed some of the cedar. It really blossomed when paired with some of the cheeses, I can see this going very well with a variety of dishes.

Red cherry nose. Light body, medium tannin, acidic. Red cherries. Earhty, spicy, very Burgundian. Simple but delicious!

Great structure. Less perfume than California or Burgundy Pinot. Lots of mineral notes with a moderate finish.

Lithe and inviting, offering a harmonious style that balances cherry, plum and fresh fig flavors against fine tannins and lively balance. Drink now through 2017. -Harvey Steiman Wine Spectator. A Pinot Noir wine from Otago in New Zealand. 2008 Amisfield Pinot Noir 750ml

...the 2007 Pinot Noir (matured 25% in new oak barriques) is turning into a fine Central Otago Pinot with oodles of ripe strawberry, raspberry and wild hedgerow on the nose with hints of dried fruit. The palate is well-balanced, quite dense and rich,... Robert Parker's Wine Advocate. A Pinot Noir wine from Otago in New Zealand. 2007 Amisfield Pinot Noir 750ml

The progress with Pinot Noir at Amisfield, which made its first version in 2002, mirrors that at many other New Zealand estates. This 2005 is the wineryrsquo;s highest-scoring effort to date. Concentration came relatively easily this vintage, due to very small berries with unusually thick skins. Winemaker Jeff Sinnott was especially careful to avoid overextraction, and aged the wines in barrel 15 months (three months longer than usual) to soften the tannins.

Very cleanly made and modern in style, with pure cherry flavors accented by vanilla and dried spices from new oak. This is a creamy, medium-bodied wine that isnrsquo;t Burgundian by any measure, but represents textbook New World Pinot Noir.

Very good intensity to berry, black cherry and roast duck flavors, with plenty of cedary oak and stony notes extending through the taut, tannic finish. Needs time to show its best. Best from 2009 through 2012. Tasted twice, with consistent notes. 3,5... Wine Spectator. A Pinot Noir wine from Otago in New Zealand. 2006 Amisfield Pinot Noir 750ml
