The nicest wine out of four PN tasted last night. Smoke and wild mushrooms covering sweet flavors in nose. Flavors match. Plenty of spice and pepper reveals in nose. Soft finish. With time, develops ripe olives and complexity. This wine just confirms my previous impressions that NZ is making the best New World PN, and with generally better prices than OR or CA.

Very good intensity to berry, black cherry and roast duck flavors, with plenty of cedary oak and stony notes extending through the taut, tannic finish. Needs time to show its best. Best from 2009 through 2012. Tasted twice with consistent notes.
Suave and ripe, with plush depth to Asian spice, roasted duck, wild berry and black cherry flavors. Crushed stone nuances, judicious oak and sinuous tannins streamline the stylish finish. Drink now through 2011.
Warm floral scents turn cooler as the flavors develop, with blackberry and black cherry richness. It trails off with a light and airy finish, pretty and long.
The 2006 Pinot Noir displays a plum-scented nose with touches of mulberry and damson, full-bodied on the palate but I feel is just a touch over-worked with a grainy, peppery finish. I think there will be superior Pinot Noirs from Amisfield in the future, but there is no doubt that Jeff Sinnott is on the right track.
A strong followup to the excellent 2005, Amisfield's 2006 Pinot Noir seems riper and weightier, marrying dark black cherry and plum fruit with hints of chocolate and spice cake. Finishes with soft tannins and a slightly dusty feel. Drink now-2015.
Very cleanly made and modern in style, with pure cherry flavors accented by vanilla and dried spices from new oak. This is a creamy, medium-bodied wine that isnrsquo;t Burgundian by any measure, but represents textbook New World Pinot Noir.
The wine shows classic Otago Pinot characters of spicy dark fruits underlaid with notes of licorice and smoke. The soft, supple texture ensures this will age well for the next 5ndash;8 years.
