Features dusty edges, with flavors of plum skin and berry preserves at the core and a good coating of tobacco on the finish. Grenache, Syrah and Carignan. Drink now.

An undervalued import from David Bowler that over-delivers. An exceptional Rhône from the village of Cairanne, this blend of 60% Grenache, 20% Syrah, and 20% Carignan is produced from 30-year-old vines from a sustainable farmed vineyard, and is aged in stainless steel and cement vats. The wine is very dark cherry in appearance and has a slight scent of smoke combined with dark fruit. The taste is full of black cherry and raspberry with a hint of licorice.

Founded in 1790, this domaine is in the village of Cairrane in the Cocirc;tes du Rhocirc;ne. A blend of 60% Grenache, 15% Carignane, 15% Syrah and 10% Cinsault from young vines, it has a forward style of pure, spicy fruit that can benefit from a slight chill before serving. Daniel Johannes of the world-famous Le Montrachet restaurant in New York selected this as his best value red wine. (It costs a bit more in his restaurant.)

Medium bodied with bright berry flavors, this affordable red blend is great for everyday. Donrsquo;t know whatrsquo;s for dinner? Grab this bottle and it will go with nearly everything. The tannins are really soft and the finish has a touch of peppery spice. From grilled tuna to pasta to chicken, itrsquo;s a great match.

Medium in body, with exuberant, compacted fruit mdash; blueberry cassis, plum mdash; and a fresh textured character. Crisp finish. Drink now through 2000.

From this high quality estate in the village of Cairanne, the inexpensive 2000 VDP de Vaucluse (a blend of 60% Grenache, 20% Syrah, and 20% Carignan) reveals a medium ruby color along with a charming berry and strawberry perfume, medium body, a soft texture, and an easily understood personality. Enjoy it over the next 1ndash;2 years.

Medium bodied and nicely spiced red from Vaucluse. Aromas and flavors of white pepper and Provenccedil;al herbs (such as lavender) are all balanced and enjoyed in this flavorful wine. Perfect for roasted chicken or turkey.
