Ambra Carmignano Santa Cristina In Pilli 2009
The Santa Cristina is a blend of 75% Sangiovese, 10% Cabernet Sauvignon, 10% Canaiolo and 5% indigenous varietals. Yields are about 40 HL/HA. A two day cold soak ensures depth of color and tannic structure. After fermenting in stainless steel, half the wine is moved to French barrique, while the other half sees larger oak casks.
Santa Cristina is a popular brand offshoot of Antinori wines, produced in the town of Cortona, in Tuscany, Italy. The wine has been produced in the area (the location of the estate changed in 2006) since 1946. The wines are produced using traditional grapes and styles of red, white and rosé as well as Super Tuscan blends using international grapes. The estate also produces fortified dessert wine, grappa and olive oil.
