This full-bodied, generous Cabernet is ripe and rich, focusing its dark-toned berry, black olive and pepper flavors beautifully. The tannins are present on the finish, but can't stop the fruit. Best from 2010 through 2017.
Firm in texture, with a grip to the tannins around the dark berry and tar flavors, finishing smoother. Not quite as dense as recent vintages. Best from 2010 through 2014.
The 2006 Cabernet Sauvignon contains a similar addition of Merlot, Syrah, and Cabernet Franc and was also aged in French, American, and Hungarian oak, 38% new. A bit more reticent, it is softer and more forward that its younger sibling. It has plenty of savory fruit, good balance and 2andndash;3 years of aging potential.
Smooth and supple, Amavi's 2005 Cabernet includes a healthy bit of Syrah, which adds details of spice and pepper to the smooth and supple cassis and black cherry fruit. Tannins are ripe and well-defined, and the wine carries subtle suggestions of olive and tea. It's focused and bright, polished and immediately delicious, though it could certainly cellar for a few years.
The 2005 Cabernet Sauvignon includes 14% Merlot, 9% Syrah, and 1% Malbec. It was aged in 35% new French, American, and Hungarian oak. Purple-colored, it has an enticing nose of cedar, spice box, red currant, and black currant. Slightly austere with moderate tannin, it should be drunk near-term while the fruit holds.
