What to Expect

Syrah: One of the few grapes to really be a global success. Syrah combines a meaty core of ripe berry fruit with tones that range from herbal to peppery in a package that tends to be medium bodied with good acidity and softer tannins. With age the wines can gain lovely leathery and black olive notes that make them a great match for savory and gamy dishes.

From the winery: Our 2005 Syrah is packed with violet, blueberry and dark fruit aromas with a hint of smoked meats. Notes of fresh-tilled earth mingle with intriguing mineral flavors that have a subtle briny characteristic. The wine has fine-grained tannins and well-embedded acidity that work together to create a tremendously long finish and a body of real depth and distinction.

At Amavi Cellars, we have chosen to focus on Syrah wines that showcase the extraordinary quality and unique concentrated fruit flavors of Pepper Bridge Vineyard and Seven Hills Vineyard, our Walla Walla Valley estate vineyards. Over the years, these estate vineyards have consistently produced grapes used by other Washington winemakers to produce Syrah wines of exceptional complexity, balance, and concentration.
