very young and tannic needs more time in the bottle
drank with indian food, worked great, some amazing flavours hard to describe, something like caramel, coconut, liquorice
lovely full bodied wine.. strong notes of sour cherry, oak and vanilla with a kind earthy funk the reminded me of some flemish ales I have had. Tannins are soft and finish is kind of abrupt. Overall a great wine for the price.
Rating: 91 Pts. Jay Miller - Wine Advocate Review: The 2006 Amancaya is composed of 50% Cabernet Sauvignon and 50% Malbec aged for 12 months in French oak, 25% new. It offers an attractive bouquet of cedar, tobacco, damp earth, black cherry, red currants, and black currants. Supple, forward, ripe, and tasty, it conceals enough tannin to evolve for 2-3 years and will drink well through 2016. It is an outstanding value. Bodegas Caro is a joint project of Domaines Barons de Rothschild (Lafite) and Nicolas Catena.
