Amador Foothill Zinfandel Clockspring Vineyard 2011

Member Review by winecrit:

Organic. Nice, ripe berry aromas with a hint of vanilla and cassis. Bright and acidic on the finish but has a fairly rich body with flavors of cherry, raisin, and a hint of mint. Very nice for such a reasonable price!

Well-balanced with ripe tannins and a lingering finish, the wine can be enjoyed by itself or with food. Enjoy this wine with traditional Zinfandel fare such as barbecue, pizzas, and grilled lamb chops, or with red-sauced pasta dishes or ratatouille.

Wine Tasting NotesAromas and flavors of cherries, raspberries, and chocolate are integrated with spice and subtle oak. The concentrated fruit and ripe tannins make the wine delightful now. Extended aging will enhance the complex character of this classic Amador Zinfandel.

From Mountain View, a good producer of Amador Zins, a sort of junior version of their single-vineyard wine. It's light in color and body, and dry, with cherry-berry flavors and a good grip of tannins and acids. Good value. -From Wine Enthusiast
