What to Expect

Sangiovese's claim to fame is its role as the heart of Chianti, Brunello and many Super Tuscan wines though it is gaining ground as a varietal wine around the globe. When grown in a suitable location the grape's soft tannins, succulent acidity and moderately intense cherry and herb flavors make Sangiovese very easy to drink as well as supremely versatile at the dinner table.

Winemakers Notes

Sangiovese juice for our rosato comes from two sources. Some of the grapes are crushed into bins for skin contact before pressing. We also drain off about 15% of the juice from the red wine tank prior to fermentation. The juices are combined and fermented to make a delicious, dry, food-friendly rose. Wonderful by itself as an aperitif, this wine also goes well with appetizers such as smoked salmon, grilled marinated prawns, sushi, or crostini with a selection of toppings.

Editorial Reviews

Soil, oil, dusty earth, pollen, wild raspberry with lovely subtle spice and herb tones, a touch of leather, a bit of Swedish fish like wild cherry all emerge from the glass in a layered and balanced bouquet. A touch sweet up front then the wash of acid cuts through the weight leaving very pure wild berry fruit tones, great interplay of acid/fruit on the palate, really zippy style with huge refreshing acids that lead to a brisk finish full or wild raspberry tones with hints of earth and spice. A lighter style in the mouth and a great rose with extremely pretty, pure fruit and a texture that makes you want to drink more. 92pts

Reviews

Very citrussy and robust, big flavor without overpowering the senses. Very agile and versatile like a ninja. Fun fruits found: mango, blueberries, passion fruit, strawberries. Topped off with a savory note of milk chocolate.

Interesting nose thats half fruity and half leathery. Dry, with good body, nice leather character and bright cherry flavors. Nice

On the nose it is filled with a lot of red fruits, just what I like. The taste was big and slowly faded away to a crisp finishing touch. I drank this alone and enjoyed every sip. The color was brightly mesmerizing.

Ripe cherry and strawberry nose. Clean, clear and crisp flavors with loads of red fruit, mostly cranberry on the palate. It's earthy and refreshing. A great combo.

This wine might singlehandedly change my mind about rose. Crisp, superb balance, and lots of deep earth. Love it!
