Winemakers Notes

For what ever reasons, this producer has skipped the 2005 vintage in out market and went straight into the 2006 vintage right after the noteworthy 2004. We had tremendous success with the 2004 vintage and rightly so, it was plump and juicy with great fruit weight and purity, receiving solid, justified 3rd party reviews as well. This just released 2006 version will not make anyone wonder what happened to the missing vintage as it may even surpass the 2004. Here you get lots of primary fruit, blue and black, boysenberry and blackberry as well as dark cherry. Sweet and plump with riper, finer grained read more...

Matt brought this to our wine and cheese party and I was thrilled because I'm currently completely obsessed with Malbecs and I really enjoyed this one. I will definitely keep an eye out for it.

#66 Wine Spectator Top 100 of 2008 The Reserve bottling is a serious step up. It is fermented in vat, but then moved to barrel for 12 to 15 months of aging. The 2006 version is intense, juicy and pure, with a licorice, floral and mineral-filled finish. The wine shows clearly outstanding potential. Rich and dark, but pure, with nice drive to the beam of raspberry, plum sauce and macerated black currant fruit. Creamy tannins and a long, well-integrated finish just sail through, with fine buried minerality. Drink now through 2014. 92 Points -Wine Spectator

WS 92PTS. - #66 on Wine Spectator's Top 100 Wines of 2008 - Tasting Notes - Polished and pure, with a lovely beam of raspberry and boysenberry fruit, layered with sweet toast, mocha, licorice and mineral notes that glide through the lengthy finish.

Blend: 85% Malbec, 15% Tempranillo Aged for 6 months in oak. Deep purple color, sweet tannins, aromas of red fruit, spice, and flowers. A huge extraction and a long silky finish. This malbec is packed with flavors of cherry and ripe strawberry, its tannins forming a dense structure supported by vivid acidity... -Wines & Spirits
