As a result a feeling of wellbeing and sensual pleasure develops, of increased strength and newly steeled courage..." (Leipzig. 1865) The Tyrolean physician Hippolyt Guarinoni found that red wine has therapeutic qualities, for 'we should be nourished by wine and it should be transformed into our blood; no other drink agrees in its colour with our blood, our natural food, in the way red wine does". (17th century) The Kurtatsch village winery is situated directly beside the Wine Route in the south of South Tyrol.
