Altesino Brunello di Montalcino Montosoli 2013

Member Review by drdebs:

Perfumed with plum blossom, leather, thyme and lavender. Beautiful silkiness to the rich, plum and berry palate. Earthy finish. Nice.

The bouquet is all Brunello, ripe dark fruits and rich chocolate aromas mix with and mineral nose profile. Exceptionally weighty, and full bodied yet somehow conveying elegance the brunello has chewy tannins and a super balance.

Wonderful aromas of dark fruit, black cherries with a hint of leather. Well balanced, full bodied with a medium finish.

The nose showed a dark shade of ripe strawberry in moist earth with tobacco and leather. On the palate it was medium-bodied and silky with a core of acidity ushering in red fruits, dried cinnamon and rocky minerals. A hint of structure lingered on the finish with dried red fruits and hints of spice.

Intense balsamic and mint notes make this red distinctive, along with currant, raspberry and floral touches. Silky, ripe and impressive, this shows elegance and a vibrant structure. Offers excellent length and resonance on the finish. Best from 2016 through 2032. 1,250 cases made. BS - Wine Spectator Magzine 95 Points, Top 100 2013Montosoli is a monumental wine that delivers pulp and richness with ripe fruit aromas, inky concentration and a touch of roasted spice at the back. The wine is savory and tangy with loads of aromatic intensity, but that telltale acidity from the 2008 vintage hits you at the back of the throat and keeps the palate refreshed. - M.L. - Wine Enthusiast Magazine 92 Points(14% alcohol): Dark red with an amber rim. Intense peach, spicy red cherry and botanical herbs on the complex nose. On the palate, medicinal herbs and red cherry flavors are complicated by minerals and supported by slightly peppery tannins and edgy acidity. Finishes bright and aromatic, with hints of animal fur, leather and sexy oaky nuances. Richer and deeper than most other 2008 Brunellos but needs a couple of years to settle down. Right now it's not much better than the Brunello 2008 normale, but I have no doubt this will be the superior wine in ten years' time. - Stephen Tanzer 91+ Points** Only 5 in Stock **

Macerated cherry and earth notes mark this meaty, sanguine red. These components are offset by thick, dense tannins and the fin-ish is compact. Requires time. Best from 2014 through 2027. -B.S Wine Spectator. A Sangiovese Grosso wine from Tuscany in Italy. 2007 Altesino Brunello di Montalcino Montosoli 750ml

Best Montosoli since 1997. Aromas of plum jam and cherries follow through to a full body, with velvety tannins and a fruity finish. Pure fruit here. The purity to this wine is impressive. It is laser-guided in structure and fruit. Try in 2014. James Suckling. A Sangiovese Grosso wine from Tuscany in Italy. 2007 Altesino Brunello di Montalcino Montosoli 750ml
