Altamura Cabernet Sauvignon Napa Valley 2007

Winemaker's Notes:

'Top 100 Wine of 2010 (#5)' and 96 points Wine Spectator: A profound effort, offering wonderful purity of flavor, with tiers of anise and black licorice, generous yet structured and elegant. This shows both power and finesse, ending with a wonderful burst of dark berry fruit. Best from 2012 through 2024. (11/15/10)

One of my favorite Cabs from Napa. Full of fruit and a long finish. It's color is rich as it's flavor. The wonderful nose is an added treat. Doesn't disapoint in any catagory. Grapes grown and wine made by Frank Altamura in Wooden Valley, using only the first pressing juices, only from dry farmed grapes, and only the best of berries. No wonder its cost. Worth every penny.

This shows both power and finesse, ending with a wonderful burst of dark berry fruit. Best from 2012 through 2024."95 Points - The Wine Advocate "Probably the best Cabernet Sauvignon I have ever tasted from Altamura, the 2007 Cabernet Sauvignon is aged 30 months in 70% new oak from the same high-elevation vineyard as the Sangiovese. Notes of espresso roast, graphite, black currants, sweet black cherries and earthy, loamy terroir are all present in this dense purple, full-bodied, exuberant, concentrated and expressive Cabernet Sauvignon. It can be drunk now or cellared for two decades."

Ranking #5 on the Wine Spectator's Top 100 Wines for 2010, Altamura solidified it's status as the ultimate collectible Cab. Only 3,000 cases are produced of this dense, powerful wine sourced from dry-farmed vineyards and aged 30 months in 70% new oak. Parker scored it 95 but the Wine Spectator topped that with a 96 saying "A profound effort, offering wonderful purity of flavor, with tiers of anise and black licorice, generous yet structured and elegant. This shows both power and finesse, ending with a wonderful burst of dark berry fruit. Best from 2012 through 2024." Extremely Limited!
