The understated power of Frank Altamura's wines has finally been recognized by The Wine Advocate after years of relatively obscure mid to high 80-point reviews. Those who have read this column over the last two years know exactly how much we love Altamura Cabernet Sauvignon, giving the library 1999 a VF 96 and the 2001 a VF 92. The current release is a beautiful example of Wooden Valley fruit and may evolve into the best since the 1999. Shows the classic Altamura aromatics: black cherry, cedar, cassis and tobacco with hints of violet and lilac arching through the nose. The palate is supple espresso, read more...

This Napa Cabernet has great depth and power, yet with a softness on the edges that makes it ready to drink. The perfect wine for a steak.

I sell this at the restaurant by saying that if velvet could be bottled, it'd be this wine! it's dark and lush with a deep inky nature that just melts over the tongue. the fact that it's limited production shows in the fact that every bottle i've had has lived up my standards consistently.
