AUD$27 from Cloudwine (South Melbourne). This is a 65/35 blend of Barbera and Cabernet Sauvignon from McLaren Vale, South Australia. Clear, intense black ruby colour with fine legs. Clean, youthful aromas of black cherry, mulberry with hints of fine ground dried herbs and fresh peppercorns. A dry, full-bodied wine of silky texture. High acidity with fine powdery tannins. Rich, fruity flavours of black cherry, black raspberry, cranberry juice and touch of dark chocolate. A surprisingly easier finish in comparison to the strength of the flavour profile. Overall, a good balanced wine, relatively cheap and an interesting blend. Drink now – 2017.
