Alois Lageder Müller-Thurgau 2011

Editorial Review by Gregory Dal Piaz:

Quite fruity on the nose with layers of peach, kiwi, chamomile and wild flower aromas and just a hint of maraschino cherry. Light weight and fresh in the mouth, this brings lightly peachy flavors to the table wrapped up in lightly nutty and floral suggestions. There’s a hint of green herb and citrus on the back end, which leads to a relatively long if simple and acid-driven finish. Simple and refreshing. 86 points

Alois Lageder produces four different groups of wines: Classic Wines, Single Vineyard Wines, Biodynamics and Estate Wines. Alois Lageder’s wines are directed to a quality-conscious public and are available only in better restaurants and specialist shops. Classic Wines include wines from the traditionally grown grapes of Alto Adige. Single variety white, rosé and red wines of high quality. Single Vineyard Wines make use of the grapes of selected, individual vineyards, separately vinified. The characteristic features of each particular place and exposure find resonant expression. The ‘beta delta’ wines are made from certified organic grapes from vineyards that are farmed according to biodynamic methods of viticulture (Greek: βios and δinamikòs). Estate Wines are the flagship wines of Alois Lageder. Grapes from exceptional locales and exposures are carefully selected according to rigorous standards. They mature in barriques of French oak into fine, complex wines. Their quantity is limited by nature itself. Read less
