Food Pairings for Alois Lageder Moscato Giallo Lago di Caldaro Vogelmaier
Alois Lageder is one of Italy's foremost winemakers. Based in the mountainous Alto Adige region in the far north of the country, the vines (which were converted to biodyanmics in 2004) enjoy a long, sunny growing season with warm days and cool nights that help to preserve both the grapes' natural aromas and acidity. The wines themselves are made in a solar-powered state-of-the-art winery. The house style is all about freshness, elegance and purity of fruit. These are finely chiseled wines with real definition, but immense charm too. This fantastic moscato shows bright straw-yellow with green reflections, with fresh, clean aromas displaying pronounced floral notes and impressions of subtropical fruit. It is medium-bodied, vinous with a harmonious and dry character. The aftertaste is fresh, quite intense and long lasting. When properly cellared, this wine may be kept for at least 3 to 5 years. This Moscato is superb as an aperitif or after-dinner drink, or with well-flavoured starters such as sausages, pâtés and terrines, grilled fish, especially Tuna, Asian food and cheeses.
