Almaden Alfresco Red United States California NV

Member Review by jkhutson:

Awful stuff. Sweet and cloying. "Natural flavors" added, what ever that means (I tried to find out--the Almaden web site doesn't even acknowledge that this "wine" exists.) My wife bought a box of this by accident and the family has banned her from any more wine purchases.

For over 150 years, Almaden Vineyards wines have been welcome at America's table. We offer a wide range of fresh and delicious wines to meet every taste. From intimate gatherings to celebrations with friends and family, Almaden wines are a natural complement to the simple pleasures of everyday life. The Almaden Story For more than eight generations, Almaden Vineyards has a rich history full of vision and success. Established in 1852, Almaden is California's oldest winery. Founded by Etienne Thee a winemaker with vision who planted the first vineyards in California with vines from his native France. Almaden has grown from a small, family-owned and operated business to a top selling wine that still values the philosophy of Etienne Thee. Today, over 150 years later, Almaden is still committed to crafting wines worthy of distinction. In 2008, we replaced our large carbon-inefficient 3 and 4 liter glass bottles with our innovative vacuum sealed Bag-ln-Box Wine system to ensure that our wine will stay fresh for at least six weeks after opening. In addition to offering fresh wine from the first to the last glass, this system is also better for the environment. Bag-ln-Box packaging requires far less energy to produce, ship and display than the heavy glass bottles that they replace. This reduces our carbon footprint by 55%. And by not using glass bottles, we are able to offer outstanding wine at substantial savings. Read less
