Allegrini Palazzo Della Torre 2004

This was a beautiful old world style Italian wine. So smooth, soft tannis, complex finish. I loved it. It's drinking great right now. Cheers!!!

an excellent wine. nice nose. low notes, good length, balance, and finish. but it's got a slightly unusual flavor throughout, a nuttiness, one i don't dislike, but am not entirely used to yet.

This blend of 70% Corvina Veronese, 25% Rondinella and 5% Sangiovese is a smooth, full-bodied cru made in an innovative ripasso style. After the harvest, the grapes from the Palazzo della Torre vineyard follow two different paths: 70% of the grapes picked are vinified immediately, the remaining 30% are left to dry until the end of December. They are then vinified and re-fermented with the wine from the fresh grapes. The result is a baby Amarone wine with fuller and rounder body, lower acidity, refined complexity and more extraction. "Allegrini's Palazzo della Torre (70% Corvina, 25% Rondinella, 5% Sangiovese) has long been one of my favorite ripasso-style wines and the 2004 is another winner. It reveals a plump, juicy personality loaded with perfumed, jammy fruit, roasted coffee beans and new leather. Although it is absolutely irresistible today, a few additional months of bottle age should help soften the wine further. It is a gorgeous effort at this level and a terrific value....90" WA 10/07
