What to Expect

Corvina is one of the classic grapes of the Veneto region of Italy. It is usually the predominant grape in the blends used for Bardolino and Valpolicella. Corvina tends to produce lightly-colored wines with high acidity and moderate tannins featuring flavors that recall dark berries with hints of bitter almond. Corvina's thick skins lends the grape to rasining without rot. This technique is used to produce richer and dessert styled wines such as Amarone and Recioto.

Winemakers Notes

A well-structured, complex, elegant and velvety wine, with intense ruby red colour. It has a warm and spicy bouquet, with aroma of raisins. Reviews

92 pts from Wine Spectator! "A minerally red, with ripe forest fruits, steely minerals and a hint of lavender. Full-bodied, with well-integrated tannins and a firm, minerally finish. Superclean Amarone. Best after 2006. 11,500 cases made. JC" - Aug 2006 Issue

Wine Skinny

A fresh, modern style - and though lacking in some of the dried fruit and game character of more traditional Amarone, this one is appealing for its smoky black fruit, fresh mineral, floral and bittersweet chocolate character. Stays focused through the finish. Ready to drink now and over the next five or six years.
