Allan Scott Pinot Noir 2007

Winemaker's Notes:

Allan Scott Wines is a family owned and operated company established in 1990. Since the first harvesting of Allan Scott Marlborough Sauvignon Blanc Allan Scott Wines has developed a solid reputation as one of the region's top producers. Nestled among the company's original 24 hectares of prime vineyard in Jackson Road are the winery and sales centre. Since 1990, the Estate has undergone many changes to obtain the best possible sources of grapes and to build facilities that make use of the very best opportunities of Marlborough's ideal year-round conditions. Vineyards acquired over the past 12 years have increased the Estate holdings to 58 hectares. Quality and absolute dedication to achieving the best is the key to Allan Scott Wines. The company prides itself on the viticultural excellence that starts from the vineyards, extending through to the finished product that is produced in the modern well-equipped winery. New this year is the Italian made screwtop bottling machine. Our Prestige Single Vineyard range of wines are produced from our best estate grown grapes and reflect low yield vines and meticulous viticulture. Special attention in the cellar in terms of handling, employing high tech and traditional methods, result in these elegant wines of limited production. This 'Pinot Noir Hounds' has dark berry fruits on the nose combine with a savoury spiciness and chocolate tones which are supported by the French oak. The palate displays a well balanced range of characteristic pinot fruit flavours with dark cherry & plum, nice acidity, integrated mouth-filling tannins and oak, with chocolate complexities. Match with wild game and other red meats or enjoy with a wide range of cheeses or just on its own. Serve at room temperature.

Allan Scott Wines & Estates Ltd is a family owned and operated vineyard and winery group. The company was founded in 1990 although the family’s history in winegrowing began in 1975 when they planted their first vineyard as a contract grower. Allan began his viticultural career in 1973 as a vineyard manager for a national wine company until shifting allegiance to a rival company, firstly establishing vineyards in the Rapaura district, then taking a senior role as Viticultural Manager with responsibilities of the group’s grape intake from all the New Zealand wine regions, as well as being part of the winemaking team. In 1985 the family decided to sell their original vineyard and purchased a new site in the Rapaura district where they developed their first block of Sauvignon Blanc. One year later they purchased another established vineyard across the road where the winery now stands. Since then the family has acquired more land in close proximity and established further vineyards in the favoured areas of the Marlborough province. The winery facility was architecturally designed and built in 1990, from rammed earth and rough sawn timber for a sophisticated yet rustic appearance. Subsequent additions including the bottling hall, barrel room, and the administration area, as well as the storage warehouse used more traditional building materials The winery is now firmly nestled amongst the prime vineyards in Jackson’s Road surrounded by mature trees and manicured gardens where the Cellar Door shop and Twelve Trees Restaurant complete the facilities available. Since being established, the Estate has undergone many changes to source top quality grapes and to build facilities that make use of the very best opportunities of Marlborough’s ideal year round conditions An ongoing desire to create aromatic estate grown and produced wines is reflected in the expansive range of wines produced at the winery. As the Marlborough region has gained a well deserved reputation as a wine and food haven, Allan Scott Wines has developed its own reputation as a Marlborough icon and a sound name for outstanding wines and fine food. Quality and absolute dedication to achieving the best is the key to Allan Scott Wines. The company prides itself on viticultural excellence, extending through to the finished product. Read less
