What to Expect

California has long struggled with Pinot Noir. Finding the right vineyards for this most fickle of grape, one that enjoys a cool growing season yet needs warmth close to harvest to fully ripen, has proven a challenge in such a sunny state. Cooler areas eventually became identified; the Santa Rita Hills, Russian River Valley and Mendocino's Anderson valley are all prime spots for Pinot Noir in California. Unlike the lighter colored and sometimes delicate Pinots of Burgundy, California produces many rich, deep Pinots full of slightly chewy dark berry and cherry fruits with hints of cola, Asian spices and forest floor frequently adding complexity.

Winemakers Notes

Arbios Cellars focuses on a single Bordeaux-style red wine, made from 100 percent Cabernet Sauvignon grapes grown on a mountain top vineyard in the Alexander Valley of Sonoma County. The Arbios Cabernet Sauvignon is crafted in classic Bordeaux-style to have moderate alcohol and good fruit character. Although Bill has a successful track record crafting blended wines, he now prefers the additional challenges and artistry that go into making wine from a single vineyard. Placing the emphasis on terroir, Bill believes in honoring the character of the fruit without over-manipulating the wine. read more...

A polished and approachable Syrah with layers of aromas and flavors. The wine has a deep purple, almost black appearance, which leads the way to a varietally distinct wine. Its complexity is aided by 14% carbonic maceration, providing intense blackberry and cherry. Dark fruits and violet are framed by vanillin oak. Loads of rich, black cherry fruit on the palate carry through to firm well-integrated tannins.

Great wine for people who are learning Syrah. It is extremely drinkable but still has great flavor.

The color is dark ruby red. Aromas of blackberry and cassis fill the glass with nuances of vanilla and cedar. On the palate this wine is deeply flavored with a hefty core of fruit. Black and red fruits appear initially, followed by an integrated acid balance and velvety tannins. Great depth and length provides a cellar life 10-12 years

The color is dark ruby red. Aromas of cherries, currants, cedar and anise dominate the nose, along with a hint of clove. Medium to full-bodied, this wine displays abundant cherry and currant fruit on the palate and a velvety mouth feel. Supple and polished throughout, it finishes withfirm tannins. As with previous vintages, thisis an extremely drinkable Cabernet Sauvignon, yet will age well for 10-15 years.

A little naughty, zesty and full-bodied, Sin Zin is a mouthful of pure fruit flavors underscored with black pepper and briar notes. Enjoy Sin Zin alongside grilled meats, hearty stews, and good friends.

Varietally distinct, this Zinfandel captures the true essence of Alexander Valley. The fruit is sourced from a variety of vineyards with differing microclimates. This provides the winery with an array of unique parcels of fruit. Once vinified, these parcels are blended together and then allowed to mature in French and American oak for 10 months. Further complexity is achieved by the addition of small amounts of Sangiovese and Syrah. Cellar life of 5-8 years. Ripe plum, cranberry and rhubarb flavors. Concentrated fruit. Good balance. Mature and rich.
