Tobacco, earth, smoke, dried flowers and plum on the nose. Really fresh on entry with soft tannins and bright acidity supporting lightly smoky, cedar edged red plum and pomegranate fruits with note of shaved bittersweet chocolate, coffee and candied raspberries adding nice top notes. The tannins turn a touch drying and aggressive with time, though they can easily be tamed with some time in bottle or decanter. The finish is long and caressing with a layered feel and lovely, fresh fruit tones. This has compelling freshness and a lightness across the palate that makes it very appealing. 90pts
Bright ripe cherry aromas. Palate is deeper, with lots of blackberries and tar, black olive, fresh acidity, and a bit of alcohol on this. Might want to let it sit for a minute to soften up, or open in a year or so.
A deep earthy nose, with iron, leather and dark prune fruits. Restrained at first for a merlot, with deeper, darker fruit than common. Quickly blows up to be a fruity wine with plums and blueberry on the finish. Its meaty, and earthy throughout and quite tannic too.
Cooked meats on the nose, slightly gamey. Big smoldering black cherries in the mouth, but the finish is a little quick. Really like it.
Wetzel Family Estate Merlot, with black plum skin hue, aromas of black stone fruits, fruitcake and spice; flavor notes of plums, black cherries, nutmeg and sweet berries; balanced and very serviceable.
A pretty straightforward gewurztraminer, all the typical notes on the nose, a little spice in the palate but lighter than i like.
Beautiful! I love being introduced to a small vineyard that produces a gem like this. Blackberries on the nose, warm and a little spicy on the palate. I can't wait to have this again...and again...and again.
The taste of the wine actually impressed me, because initially I wasn't expecting much. There was quite a bit of sediment even in my first glass. I saw a lot of it on the mouth of the bottle, which I did try to clean before pouring. But, I still ended up with it in my glass. I don't even like that when you end up with it in the last bit, but the first glass?? Anyway, the wine itself is balanced and medium bodied. One glass was very satisfying and I really did not feel the need for more. I had it with a meal of pasta and tangy sauce - a great paring. I would have given this one a four, but 3.5 because of my first impression.

Wine Tasting NotesThis bright flavorful wine was produced from eight individual blocks of Chardonnay. Stainless Steel and barrel fermentation with multiple yeast strains, French oak barrel aging on the yeast lees, and partial secondary or malolactic fermentation all combine to present a flavorful and complex wine. Aromas of mandarin orange, pineapple and a hint of lemon combine with rich apple and pear flavors. The wine finishes with great flavor and length.
The 2006 Redemption Zin shows substantial blackberry and plum flavors along with a healthy dose of black pepper and more subtle notes of orange peel and glycerin.
Wine Tasting NotesExplosive aromas of rose petals, ginger, grapefruit, litchi nuts and nutmeg. Fresh floral, brown spice and citrus flavors unfold on the palate, extending through a lasting, crisp finish. The wine has a trace of residual sugar and slight effervescence.
A bit chewy, with ripe berry overtones mdash; currant, blackberry and a hint of raisin. Smoke and leather on the nose, with a bright, long finish.
Sangiovese has a knack for absorbing oak during barrel aging. To compensate for that, we age our Sangiovese in neutral French oak to ensure the vibrant fruit flavors aren't overrun. On the nose, this wine displays aromas of cherry, strawberry and plum as well as tea and rose petals. The predominant flavors are red plum and spice. Drink now or cellar this wine for 5 to 8 years.
The Syrah adds bright berry flavors with loads of blueberry, blackberry and a touch of spice. Our Alexander Valley Merlot is big and powerful, so I select our softer lots with lots of blackberry, currant & cassis for Two Barrel. This wine is like drinking summer in a glass - up front you get bright berry flavors from the combination of Sryah and Merlot. Then there is a long finish that is typical of Alexander Valley Merlot.
Notes: Aged for 10 months in neutral French oak
