A disappointing wine, lacking complexity and maturity. Look to Betz Family Winery for better blends in this price range.

Dark red to garnet color. Abundant black cherry, dark chocolate, anise and espresso on the nose. Good structure and concentration across the mid-palate with violet and spice flavors that continue to develop and linger in a long finish

Alder Ridge is the label for the top wines from Corus Brands. Aromatic and complex, it's a young wine that seems to still be raveling itself together. The winemaker attributes the choppiness to cross-flow filtering, but it is meaty and substantial, and showing a supple, varietal, seamless profile: bright cranberry and raspberry fruit, layers of coffee, butterscotch and caramel, and finely polished tannins. - P.G. Ripe and generous, lithe in structure, with fine tannins around a glowing core of black currant, blackberry and savory tones as the finish lingers solidly. Best from 2010 through 2015. 1,200 cases made. -HS
