Aldegheri Amarone Della Valpolicella 1998
Robust, full and warm, the bouquet recalls black cherries in alcohol, liquorice, and leather and has a slight hint of wood. Excellent with roasts and game, also ideal with very mature and/or piquant cheeses. Unbeatable when sipped during convivial conversation at the end of a meal. We recommend uncorking the bottle a few hours before drinking or "oxygenation" with a decanter. Serve at 18-20°C.
Garnet w/ brown rim - age.. Cherry, rose petal aromas.. More roundness + mouthfeel. Smooth, some spice. Dyer + more tannic. Slightly hot finish..
appearance: clear bright, opaque purple ruby color with much lucsciou legs on the bowl of the glass nose: clean with a medium (+) intensity. developping with fruity characteristics of stewed dark forest fruits - blackberries, blueberries and dark cherries. with hints of black pepper and leather. palate: dry with a fairly balanced medium (-) acidity & medium tannin (round) with a high alcohol level and full body. medium (+) intensity flavours much as nose but with more pronounced pepper and leather on the finish. a medium and silky finish. conclusion: a good quality wine. with a good level of acidity, tannin and fruit still present, a fairly complex wine, it is ready to drink but can age for further terciary complexity development.
