The 2007 Alconte was aged for 12 months in new French oak. Aromas of wood smoke, earth, mineral, and blackberry with a slightly roasted character is followed by a rich, full-flavored, concentrated, voluminous effort with a bit of underlying structure. Give this lengthy Tempranillo 1-2 years of cellaring and drink it from 2011 to 2022. Fleshy and tender, this red offers cherry, vanilla and spice flavors that are ripe and soft. Theres just enough tannins for grip. Drink now through 2014. 2,000 cases made. -TM
