Albariño Organistrum Fermentado En Barrica Bodegas Martin Codax Pontevedra/España 2008
Vibrant, medium intense ruby red color. Decadent aromas of ripe fruit and a floral bouquet that is integrated with nuances of cedar and toasty oak. This is a modern-style Rioja, exhibiting dark, robust, plush fruit and agreeable tannins. The 2008 Ergo Tempranillo has lots of body and structure, as well as multiple layers of fruit.
Martín Códax is a winery that was founded by a group of Spanish winemarkers in 1986. It is in the capital of the Salnés Valley, Cambados, in the Denomination of Origin "Rías Baixas" of Spain.
RiceSelect's creamy Arborio gets blended with sweet potato, coconut milk and vanilla to create this decadent cheesecake. Pairs well with Saunternes; a white dessert wine that has hints of coconut from aging in oak barrels.

nose of light sea water made me think of how awesome it would pair with broiled scallops. I had it with beer battered cod filets. the mouthfeel is nice and oily with lots of tart acid. i get lemons and lemon peel for days. just a gorgeous wine by itself or with fish. prototypical albarino. this may even age for a year due to the acid, but i recco drinking it ASAP.
I agree with the comment about the "sea-water" nose. Only medium acid, but still crisp because of the full body and slight citrus flavors. Drank this with pesto/tomato/parmesan crostini...good, but would be even better with grilled seafood (would not be a good match with a creamy sauce.)

What a very good value this wine is. The nose reminds me of honey Greek yogurt with melon and pear. It is very inviting. The label mentions "fruit forward" and its dead on... lots of plum and berry flavor, with a hint of spice, much juicier than what I normally expect from a rioja.... but in a good, pleasing way. Very enjoyable wine and a solid value.
