Alban Vineyards Viognier Edna Valley Alban Estate Vineyard 2007
Possibly the finest Viognier John Alban has produced that gets better year after year. This white wine exhibits an intense perfume of apricots honeysuckle and assorted tropical fruits. It reminded me of Guigal's Condrieu La Doriane because of its good underlying acidity and fabulous texture as well as length. This beauty should drink well for 2-3 years.
I liked this wine, but was disappointed overall. It was a little on the cloudy side. It was not very crisp. I also thought it a little too dry. I did not think it was very fruitty. I expected to like it much better.
17th vintage for this Rhone style pioneer. Unfiltered and unfined the wine shows lemon custard, exotic citrus and pear notes with a hint of smoke. Definitely worth a try.
