- ($56; just assembled) Good deep ruby. Knockout syrah aromas of black raspberry, bacon fat, asphalt, gunflint and smoked meat. Extraordinarily sweet and silky, with flamboyantly ripeflavors of black raspberry and smoked meat. This too is quite high in alcohol at 15.8% but has the material to carry it off. Finishes with fully ripe tannins.

- A rich, massive, densely flavored Syrah, packed with syrupy currant, wild berry and boysenberry fruit, with dashes of beef, pepper and spice and a hint of cedar and earth. While the tannins are big and muscular, they have a gentleness that lets the flavors gain complexity on the finish. 1,440 cases made.
