($56) Deep ruby. Blackberry, violet pastille, gunflint and licorice on the nose. Broad, sweet and vibrant, with palate-saturating flavors of blackberry, dark raspberry and violet. This boasts terrific inner-palate energy for a wine with such thickness of texture. Finishes supersweet, lush and very long, with notes of tar, bitter chocolate and pepper. Here the wine's very strong material supports what appears to have been a rather extractive vinification for this producer.
