Alamos Torrontes 2006
Nicolás Catena Zapata is made from a selection of the best lots of Cabernet Sauvignon and Malbec in the Catena Zapata Vineyards. The first Nicolás Catena Zapata was made in 1997, a phenomenal Cabernet Sauvignon vintage in Mendoza. This wine is only produced in outstanding vintage years.
Last night I had the chance to taste the wine, for the price point i was absolutely dissapointed, laking concentration, no freshness and there was no acidity there...

The Agrelo Vineyard is an ideal spot for growing Cabernet Sauvignon. The high density planting of over 4,950 vines/ha (2,000 vines /acre), the high altitude climate (at 940m/3,100' above sea level) and the use of controlled irrigation allow us to grow grapes with remarkably full and concentrated flavors.
91 Points - The Wine Advocate "The aromatic array displays toasty black cherry, black raspberry and violet notes leading to a smooth-textured, layered, rich wine bordering on opulence. It manages to achieve this retaining an elegant, light-on-its-feet personality. On the palate, spice notes and a hint of chocolate emerge." 91 Points - Wine Spectator "Enticing, with lots of mocha, fruitcake, raspberry and boysenberry flavors stretched over a lengthy, fleshy finish. A delicious, fruit-driven version. Drink now through 2010."
