What to Expect
Argentina, and in particular the region around Mendoza, is making a name for itself as the source of some of the finest expressions of Malbec ever made. In this warm, yet dry climate the Malbec achieves near perfect ripeness endowing the wines with a velvety texture and intense flavors of blackberry, peppery spice, and balsamic herbs. The cooler, well-drained slopes of the hillsides of the region have proven to be ideally suited for Malbec, allowing for the wines to achieve a level of complexity and harmony that rivals those of Napa or Bordeaux.

Nothing real distinctive. I was expecting more pepper and spiciness, but this was definitely on the sweet side with red berries dominating after it opened up for about an hour.
I just placed this wine on our restaurants wine list and I am looking forward to the feed back, It is big and bold, very drinkable by it's self or with a meal.
Bought this wine Friday night for $8.99. All I can say is WOW! Great dark color, and alot of fruit on the nose. Soft and supple mouth feel with lots of berry flavors. Nice long finish with soft tannins.
Worth it. Sweet spice and light tobacco/floral notes. A good solid Malbec. An underrated varietal, that is just recently getting better attention. This is a darn good showing for $9.99.
for $10 and under this wine is a steal. opens up nice after 30 minutes of decanting. not a bottle to save over several days and the '06's are undrinkable now so I suggest buying a bunch of these and drinking them as fast as possible.
The 2006 Alamos Malbec presents a deep, opaque violet color with purple hues. The nose is intense and complex, with ripe black fruits, sweet spice and a touch of violets. The 2007 Alamos Malbec has a dark, blackish purple color. The nose shows ripe black fruits, black pepper spice and floral notes. The mouthfeel is full yet soft and supple, with black raspberry and currant flavors mingled with notes of sweet spice and a touch of leather. The finish is long and persistent with soft, sweet tannins.
