Malbec, Bonarda, Tempranillo Low herbal and a bit spicy on the nose with note of blueberries and raspberries competing for one’s attention with some vanilla and wood toast notes. rather light and bright on entry, then this takes on a bit of weight on the mid-palate where it shows off chunky, plump but not heavy blueberry and blackberry flavors framed in rather obvious but fairly well balanced oak. This turns a bit dry and slightly austere on the finish, which helps to refresh the palate here as the fruit has sufficient staying power to eventually recover the tannins. It’s not fancy but this offers up nice fruit and good structure. I might try this with a slow cooked pork shoulder. 85pts

This is plump and rich with sweet wild berry fruit flavors supported by woody tannins that are a touch splintery. There’s plenty of toasty vanilla spice here, all helped out by the bright acidity. A bit simple but plum and fun with a plummy finish. A touch raw on the palate. 86pts
Wonderful body; balanced, smooth, great notes of spice, blackberry, cherries. Much more interesting than the Malbec--and I have drunk much of that.
Great wine, spicy, jammy thoroughly enjoyed it. Goes well with brie cheese.
Lots of tannins in this wine. Decant for thirty to forty-five minutes. Otherwise nice blend of spices with a relatively smooth finish. Not bad in a pinch
Consider a nice, gently grilled pork loin that has been marinated in garlic and herbs and is served with a light salsa of piquillo peppers. The simple fruitiness of the wine will work well with the gentle zing of the sauce and the fresh, pure flavors that this sort of dish produces.

The 2012 Alamos Red Blend is composed of 38% Malbec, 16% Syrah, 12% Bonarda, 20% Cabernet Sauvignon, 8% Tempranillo and 6% Petit Verdot, from different vineyards in the Uco Valley. To achieve an alcohol level of 13.7% in a vintage like 2012 they do quite a bit of early harvest and search for Cabernet from cold locations like La Consulta. The result is quite aromatic, open, exuberant, and flowery, with a supple palate. It is tasty and with good acidity. Highly drinkable and very good value. Drink 2014–2017.
Ripe plum and berry aromas come with spice notes before a supremely generous palate that’s loud and flavorful in blackberry, cassis and black cherry fruit. On the finish, chocolate and oak influences roll in as the tannins subside. For power, flavor and clarity, this is a sure bet.
