Reviews for 2008 Vintage
This was my first Malbec that wasn't part of a blend. I ordered a glass at a Cuban restaurant to go with picadillo, a ground beef dish. It went very well with the beef, adding a sweetness to the beef. I've also sampled Alamos' Torrontes white and found it to be excellent, so I presumed (and correctly so) that the Malbec would also be good. Another reviewer suggested that it might improve with age, so I think I'll put a sticky note on a bottle to say "hold until 2012" and see how it does.
Decent wine at a great price. Very bright spice, with a lighter fruity body. A standard wine.
This is a standard in my collection. Easy drinking wine with a good spice at the back end and with enough body to make it interesting without overpowering.
My rating 86. Dry full bodied with plenty of tannis.
Nose balanced with some complex fruit flavors.
Good deal for a mainstream Malbec
Deep color, relatively complex nose. Hint of spice, berries, black pepper, fairly dry finish. Not as rich as some Malbecs but this makes it excellent with certain rich meats/sauces where the drier finish works well. V Good as an everyday wine given the price.
Im a fan of Malbec, and this one doesn't disappoint. Add in that it can be found for around $8 and you've got a winner! Recommended for a good, solid, budget Malbec.
This is a spectacular wine at such a young age. Alamos suggests the vintage to be strong due to the climate conditions, so I suspect it will only get better with age. Note: it is already retailing at higher prices, so buy a case at these prices while you can.
Great with pasta dishes and steaks. I agree with everyone here it should be a staple.
Really like this, Wegman's rated it as a 90 point wine, so we thought we'd give it a whirl, I agree - this should be a standard wine you always have around - very smooth and delicious! Bold and spicy
The nose is sturdy and complex with a long and well rounded taste. It offers a variety of flavors. We will purchase more of this!
