Alain Geoffroy Bourgogne Pinot Noir 2016

Member Review by duncan 906:

I bought this bottle of wine from a shop in Oxfordshire [www.oxfordwines.co.uk] for £12.50. It is from a family concern in the Chablis area although this is a red Burgundy under the basic Bourgogne appellation. It is 100% pinot noir from 40 year old vines and was aged in oak barrels. I started it last night with my steak supper There is some redcurrant, cranberry and raspberry style fruit with a hint of vanilla and some soft and delicate tannins just strong enough to give structure. This is a lovely wine that was a perfect match for the steak

This is a family estate established in 1850 in the Chabis area with about 50 hectares under vine producing a range of red and white Burgundy wines [mainly Chablis].
