I bought two bottles of this wine from the website www.bidforwine.co.uk/auctions/show/53910 for £25. Gevrey-Chambertin is an AOC created in 1936.although viticulture in the area goes back to at least the Romans. The AOC is for red wines only made of pinot noir from the commune of the same name and the neighbouring commune of Brochon on the Cotes de Nuit in Burgundy. There are 9 Grand Cru vineyards and 26 Premier Cru although most of Alain Burguet's 8 hectare domaine is of village level. The 'Mes Favorites ' cuvee is made from parcels of old vines averaging 70 years old. I started the first bottle the other night to accompany my steak and I did enjoy it There is plenty of a concentrated liquorice like raspberry, blackberry and cherry style fruit there, there are some nice structured tannins, and it is fairly easy-drinking. In short this is a lovely wine

Purchased off the list at Landmarc in NYC for $70. My first Burguet and not my last- on the darker side for a village wine, with a very good earthy nose with some acidity and cherry/cola notes as well. The palate was well balanced- fuller than I expected with a nice finish- lots of black cherries and cola here as well- doubt this sees much oak if any. Great quality for a village wine- anoher 2000 drinking very well.
