Bruce Ahnfeldt moved to the Napa Valley in the mid 1980’s. While Ahnfeldt Wines did not begin until 2002, the Ahnfeldts developed and planted their first Cabernet Sauvignon vineyard in 1985. Since developing and planting that first vineyard, they have planted five more vineyards of Cabernet Sauvignon and Merlot grapes in the Napa Valley. Grapes from the Ahnfeldt vineyards have been sold to BV (Bealieu), Markham, Sterling, Kendal Jackson and Hagafen wineries. These mature vineyards produce such fine quality grapes, that they are now used in their wines. Bruce’s experience in agriculture goes back to his teenage years. For a number of years, he and his brother leased and farmed ten acres of apricot orchards in Los Altos Hills, California, now known as the world famous Silicon Valley. This early exposure to the joys of farming instilled a passion and love for agriculture which years later manifested itself in developing wonderful vineyards. The symbol for Ahnfeldt Wines is a stone carving of their first Friesian horse “Dutch” (Registered name Nanne V.D. Wurdgyk) who was imported from Holland summer of 2003. Soon after acquiring him the idea for their logo was born and developed from the picture as seen above. Since then they have gotten two more Friesian horses. Bengt, their daughter Haley’s horse whom she calls “Comet” and most recently, “Taling R.” (pet name Bouvier). “Dutch” will be forever remembered and immortalized on our label. Read less

This is a Gold Medal Wine Club Platinum Series selection. Ahnfeldt’s 2004 Napa Valley Cabernet Sauvignon is an elegant estate wine blended from two of the winery’s most desirable vineyards in the southerly, cooler portions of Napa, the Monticello Vineyard and the Kreuse Canyon Hillside. One of Ahnfeldt’s flagship wines, this well structured Cabernet Sauvignon was awarded 90 Points by Wine Enthusiast magazine. Flavors of cherry, cedar, black cherry, rose water, subtle earthiness and cassis come alive in the soft, enticing entry and develop into a medium to full bodied wine. The Ahnfeldt Cabernet Sauvignon is smooth from start to end with mouth filling tannins and excellent balance. A food-friendly wine with reverberating flavors, the 2004 vintage is loaded with fruit, balance, and quality tannins, which lead into a satisfying lengthy finish. This crowd-pleasing wine pairs deliciously with hearty New York steaks, meatloaf, and beef tenderloin. Aged 22 months in oak. 83% Cabernet Sauvignon, 15% Merlot, 1% Cabernet Franc, 1% Petit Verdot. Enjoy now until 2014.

This wine is the bomb.. The only reason I don't give it 5 glasses is because its peaking right now.. This is a fully mature big bodied incredibly smooth well balanced mouth watering treasure of a wine. It will hold on for a couple more years but you usually have to pay $50 to $100 for a california cab of this quality.
