Agricole Querciabella Chianti Classico 6 2006
Editorial Reviews for Agricole Querciabella Chianti Classico 6
This has a textbook nose of cherry, mineral, moss, tobacco and leather with woodsy undertones. On the palate this is elegant and silky with rich raspberry fruit touched with subtle hints of earth and herbs. The fruit has a nice crystallized edge to it and wonderful purity and cut finishing with a hint of mint. 92pts
Now here is a modern style Chianti that really measures up: bright red robe, lots of tobacco, cherry salad puckering tannins and good acidity - all from a fine, successful vintage from this well known producer. Unless moving upscale looking to the 7th heaven, this wine is as good as it gets for a moderate price point. Definitely Chianti with medicinal, highly vinous notes topped with Mediterranean herbs on entry with a medium to long finish. Drinking well now but could age up to 5 years at least. Well done indeed!
A dark ruby red color. Initially the nose is like a basket of berries in a florist shop but with a little time raspberry fruit comes to the top with hints of fall leaves. Blackberry fruit and orange rind on the initial sip with an earthy, cherry finish and fresh acidity that glides across your palette and leaves you wanting more. This is the epitome of Italian food wine, adding wonderful earth and mushroom notes to a plate of pasta with red sauce, and is balanced enough to reward mid-term cellaring.
We visited Tuscany in March, 2009 and sampled many wines. This was one of our favorites. It is full-bodied with an excellent nose. I wish more was available in the U.S.

When we find a great Chianti Classico producer like this one, it's cause for celebration. This food-friendly red wine shows dark fruit, powder, licorice, and solid tannins. It's all wrapped up in a surprisingly approachable package, but the bottle shows all the signs of ageworthiness.
A rich, round wine, with plum and berry character and soft tannins. Full-bodied, with berry and dark chocolate character and a long finish. Juicy. Outstanding value. Drink now through 2012. 12,000 cases made.

Gorgeous aromatics waft from the glass as the 2006 Chianti Classico Querciabella (95% Sangiovese and 5% Cabernet Sauvignon) opens to reveal a super-elegant expression of fresh berries, flowers and tobacco. The plumpness of the fruit makes the wine very appealing today, but there is sufficient tannic clout to suggest at least medium-term aging potential. In recent years Quericabellas Chianti Classico has established a new benchmark for finessed Chianti made in a contemporary style that nevertheless remains faithful to Sangiovese and the unique qualities of these sites.
