Rich plum and wild flower aromas follow through to a full-bodied palate, with lots of velvety, slightly chewy tannins and a long aftertaste of vanilla, plum and tea. Soft, velvety and opulent. Carignano, Cabernet Sauvignon and Merlot. Best after 2009. 6,250 cases made. -JS ** Only 11 in Stock **

Wine & Spirits ReviewBarrua is a 75-acre vineyard in southwest Sardinia farmed as a joint venture between the families behind Sassicaia in Tuscany and Santadi in Sardinia. Made from 85% Carignano, 10% Cabernet Sauvignon and 5% Merlot, this is a lush, modern wine with dark fruit flavors and the sweetness of new French oak. It's delicious now, but will need a few years in the cellar to show its full potential.Wine Tasting NotesBarrua is deep crimson red in color with violet highlights and aromas of crushed fresh blackberries and a suave, silky palate supported by sweet, refined tannins and a fine note of acidity. Together, the color, fragrance, extract and alcohol achieve a degree of richness which yields wine of opulent suppleness, elegant tannins and finely tuned acidity: a textbook expression of the Carignano grape.
