Editorial Reviews for Agricola de Borja Borsao Campo de Borja Tres Picos
Smells like blackberry pie. A bit zinfandel like with brambly dark fruits and lots of oak induced baking spices. Smells sweet on the nose with lots of layered vanilla, spice and roasted fruit notes. Big and think on entry with dense, chewy brambly blackberry fruit. A lot of wine with a soft, approachable character. There is sufficient structure to carry the wine but the appeal is the rich, dark coffee cream tinged blackberry pie fruits. The finish lacks the harmony of the midpalate with acidity sticking out and coming completely unintegrated on the caustic finish. 84pts

2008 vintage. Superb wine. A very interesting nose. Notes of ink and eucalyptus. Very earthy. Followed through on the palate. Vegetal and dried fruits with a wonderful lingering finish.
strong and fruity with hints of vainilla and cedar
Red fruit, blueberry, flowers and spice on the nose, this wine has a sweet, sensuous, yet smokey taste on the swirl with a soft, lingering finish reminiscent of chili peppers and pencil lead. Beautifully balanced this Garnacha has layers of structure bolstered by firm, but not overbearing tannins. Approachable and seductive this offering provides simply outstanding value. 91.
Deep inky plummy red with a very young look, nose a balance of oak, alcohol and plummy fruit with a hint of menthol, medium-plus body, sweet and smoky in the mouth with a medium-long finish, soft tannins. Excellent value with the weight and intensity associated with Aussies but with much more subtlety. $11.33 wholesale/$17 retail
Lovely nose -- dark fruits, tobacco, leather, smoke, vanilla, mocha. It has a smooth, thick, heavy-ish mouthfeel...very nice.
Nice dry full mouth wine

Old-vine Garnacha shows brilliantly in this Tres Picos bottling. Red berries and cherries dance on the palate while earthy notes and balanced acidity keep things lively through the finish.
"Highly complex bouquet of cherry, dark berry liqueur, iron, tobacco and dried flowers; reminded me a wine from Graves. Tangy cherry and cassis flavors are on the primal side initially but soften and gain sweetness with air. Fine tannins add grip to the long, spicy finish, which repeats the iron note. This is very promising."-Stephen Tanzer 90+ Points

(50% garnacha and 25% each of tempranillo and cabernet sauvignon, raised in a 50/50 blend of French and American oak) Vivid red. Oak-spiced cherry and blackcurrant aromas show a strong note of vanilla. Rich and creamy, but the oak dominates the lush fruit, which struggles to come forward. Finishes sweet, broad and long, with lingering notes of vanilla and clove. Intriguing bramble and herbal accents add interest to the ripe, jammy berry fruit in this fresh, supple red. Vanilla and floral notes linger on the finish. Grenache, Tempranillo and Cabernet Sauvignon. Drink now through 2013. 3,000 cases imported. -TM The 2007 Borsao Crianza Seleccion is made up of 50% Garnacha, 25% Tempranillo, and 25% Cabernet Sauvignon aged for 10 months in French and American oak. Dark ruby-colored, it displays a perfume of red and black fruits, spice box, leather, and violets. In the mouth it leans toward elegance while also providing plenty of grip and concentration. This lengthy effort can be enjoyed over the next 5-6 years.
Deep and sweet, Tres Picos Borsao is cherry red in colour with a hint of purple tones. In the nose, there is a boundless bouquet of mature red fruits with traces of flowers that are typical of the best Garnachas. In the mouth, it is rich and well-structured simultaneously conveying flavours of blackberries, strawberries and tones of leather, vanilla and plums. Perfectly combined with a sweet and pleasant tannin, Tres Picos Borsao leaves us with a long, silky and balanced finish.
