Although the history of the city of Borja takes us back to the beginnings of the Paleolithic period, it wasn’t until the 4th century before Christ, in the heart of the Celtiberian period, when thanks to classical and numismatic written sources the name of this village came to light: Bursao. With the passing through Bursao of different civilizations like the Romans, Visigothic Hispania and the Muslims we have inherited architectural remains and above all, the natural inclination of its people towards agriculture and more particularly viniculture. Of equal importance was the implementation of artisanal techniques that today endure as living proof of the cultural richness of the former Bursao today known as Borja. During the I and II centuries, before our time, it used to mint bronze coins, ases and dividers as a symbol of its autonomy. Aroma - black fruit, cherry, dust, nice fruit. Taste - Blackberry, dust, leather, cherry, good lengthy finish, some higher alcohols All in all an excellent wine at this price ($6.99 in MO) I have had previous vintages and this is a good introduction to Spanish wines, and to Grenacha as it exhibits some typical qualities of both, and the price is such, that it shouldn't scare off novices.

Tasting Notes:

Rich, almost extravagant, this wine offers ample evidence that red wine blends in Campo de Borja can achieve relatively lofty heights. This Garnacha-based wine, allied with helpmates such as Syrah and Cabernet, shows lots of black fruits, even hints of cassis, along with barrel-derived vanilla, pepper, and spices.

We love Jorge Ordonez because he make interesting wines at outstanding price points Tasted through this the other day. Grenache fruit really shows through in the mid palette. Great with food nice balance.

36000 bottles produced.

Notes: Aged in French and American Oak for 10 months, additional 14 months aging in the bottle.
