From the Basilicata region in Southern Italy, Bisceglia "Terra di Vulcano" Aglianico del Vulture 2011 is 100% Aglianic that is aged for 12 months in stainless steel and 4 months in bottle. An intense garnet color, it offers aromas of blackberry, spice and a hint of smoke with a balanced palate, round tannins and a nice finish. Pairs well with tomato based pasta dishes, pizza, and gazpacho.

Bisceglia Brothers Wine Co.:
The Bisceglia Estate was founded in 2001 by Mario Bisceglia who left his position in the corporate food world and returned to his land to commit his efforts to producing fine sustainably produced wine. The vineyard is situated in the beautiful district of Lavello on the lower slopes of the extinct volcano, Mount Vulture.

Wow, what a nose of mildly unpleasant wet dog! Taste is much better, spicy, fruity, and slightly floral. "Barolo of the south."

A harmonious red, layering supple tannins and lightly tangy acidity with flavors of dried black cherry, strawberry, spice box and dried marjoram, underscored by an ashy mineral note that echoes on the finish. Drink now through 2019.
