Adriano Marco &vittorio Barbaresco Basarin 2015

Editorial Review by Gregory Dal Piaz:

sand, salt and herb tones, lightly scented but fresh w a touch of green over a touch of candy, nice liquory pure red raspberry fruit, a touch of earth, lovely balance, cool and crisp, fine tannins, nice subtle complexity, not a block buster but nicely put together,

The “AZIENDA AGRICOLA ADRIANO MARCO e VITTORIO” farm is a family-run company, situated in the heart of the prestigious Langhe hills and produces its wines exclusively from its own grapes. At the beginning of the twentieth-century, Giuseppe, the grandfather, who was share-farmer, started his activity of growing grapes. Later on, he purchased a small farm and together with his son Aldo, expanded the family property planting new vines. From that moment on, the activity has grown gradually even thanks to the involvement of his two grandsons, MARCO and VITTORIO. They introduced some significant changes such as the wine-making and the bottling of their own production and established the new AZIENDA AGRICOLA ADRIANO MARCO e VITTORIO. All the works in the vineyards, are entirely made by the members of the family, with great respect to the ecological standards, to obtain a genuine product for the consumers. For the ageing, the cellar holds oak barrels and steel tanks. All the wines produced by the “AZIENDA AGRICOLA ADRIANO MARCO e VITTORIO” farm are sold in Italy and abroad as well through importers. Actually the winery owns 20 hectares of vineyards cultivated with NEBBIOLO for BARBARESCO, BARBERA D’ALBA, DOLCETTO D’ALBA, SAUVIGNON and MOSCATO. Read less

Sweet nose with carmel, toffee, raspberries. Still very tannic (2008) chewy and almost chalky feel in the mouth

With slightly less than half the acreage, Barbaresco is the sister region to Barolo. Barbaresco lies closer to the Tanaro River and the vineyards lie slightly lower in altitude than do Barolo’s. Both factors mean more warmth which allows the Nebbiolo grapes to ripen just a little earlier, producing a more forward, fruitier wine, which is what this single vineyard Barbaresco demonstrates. Like in Barolo, vineyards are identified and well understood by the local producers who will name them on the label. Basarin is a south facing slope just to the west of the village that gets good sun exposure. the wine Spectator scored this gorgeous Barasin from Adriano, Marco & Vittorio 91 points saying "Plum, berry and chocolate aromas follow through to a full body, with ripe, round tannins and a chewy finish. Concentrated and rich. Best after 2012."

Basarin is a south facing slope just to the west of the village that gets good sun exposure. Producers Adriano, Marco & Vittorio produce this stunning wine in the traditional way with slow fermentation and then long aging in giant oak foudres. Hints of rose petal, white truffle and wood smoke grace the nose. On the palate it’s full but supple, with teasing hints of red fruit, figs, chocolate and lavender. Decant it and let it breath for up to an hour, then enjoy.<small>Terms & Conditions : Pay only $0.99 per bottle Standard UPS Ground Shipping on Barbaresco 2004 Basarin, Adriano, Marco & Vittorio.
