This Zinfandel has spice, pepper, and a great nose of berries, cherries, and sage. Color is a nice red. Adobe Road is an interesting, small producer in Sonoma. They have several wines, and I've previously tasted the Cabernet Savignon. The website has tasting notes, the cork gives both the web address and the phone number. Spicy, red berries, pepper, licorice, typical Zin flavors. The wine was light to medium weight, went well with a grilled burger. Recommended, and I put two bottles in the celler. Only 950 cases were made, so I expect it to be hard to come by again. One oddity, two bottles had different mouth feels, though similar flavors - one was thinner than the other. Maybe different barrels? No idea why, but both were excellent. This is the third of their wines I've had, and I recommend that everyone leave them for me!

Kevin Buckler, CEO and founder of Adobe Road winery, knew when he was creating our 2005 Zinfandel that it was going to be a special wine. The grapes come straight from Grist Vineyards, the same vineyards made famous by Turley’s Grist Zinfandel. Kevin sampled dozens of grapes from vineyards in the infamous area, before deciding that the Grist vineyard would provide the grapes for his next gold medal wine! And that it did! Our Zinfandels have long been the benchmark of our portfolio. However, our 2005 Zinfandel brings a new level of richness, elegance and varietal expression. At just 950 cases, this wine has been handpicked, hand de-stemmed and hand maintained to ensure the highest quality. Raspberry, boysenberry and cedar carry the nose right through to the mouth feel. This finely textured red fruit Zinfandel has a surprisingly long, elegant finish in spite of its 15.2% natural alcohol.
