"This fleshy Arneis is made from a measly few rows rooted in the Bowe Lees vineyards in the Adelaide Hills, 1,275 feet above sea level. If you like your Arneis in the crisp, nutty/pear aperitif guise, look away now. Arneis means "little rascal" in the Piedmontese dialect and this seriously savory/earthy rendition of site and grape lives up to that name. With swathes of spicy, yellow plum and fuzzy peach fruit, and a chewy, phenolic-edged grip to finish off, there is nothing simple or sedate about this delicious wine. In spite of the extract-rich palate (given even more bass by 20 per cent indigenous fermentation in neutral oak) the wine remains zingy and super refreshing, encouraging you to have another glass, or three. High-pitched, spice-tinged citrus zest and green apple aromas are complemented by deeper suggestions of anise and floral honey. Lithe and tightly wound, offering nervy orchard fruit and lemongrass flavors that flesh out and open up with air. Spicy, racy and focused on the incisive, persistent finish, which leaves notes of pear and ginger behind." Winery notes

Adelina is a small winery and vineyard nestled in the Spring Farm Valley between the Aberfeldy and Wendouree vineyards, approximately 4km south/south east of the township of Clare. The small vineyard has an elevation of approximately 450 metres above sea level, originally established circa 1910 yields mainly Shiraz, Grenache, and Cabernet Sauvignon, however there are also small plantings of Pinot Noir and Pedro Ximenes. The Gardner family have owned the Spring Farm Estate (the site of both the Adelina winery and vineyards) since 1986. Prior to the inception of Adelina Wines in 2000, the property was managed by Will and Elaine Gardner and fruit was sold to Tim Adams. From establishment, up until late 2002 the property and winery were run largely by Will and his daughter Jennie, at which point Colin McBryde was appointed as a winemaker, when production and management became the responsibility of he and Jennie. Both Colin and Jennie hold Ph.D’s in oenology, importantly they see themselves as custodians of an exciting vineyard and winery. Their winemaking philosophy is simple: make wines which exhibit a sense of place, the definition of site, climate, and season, whilst utilising minimalist approaches.
