The vines in Finca Mirador were planted half in 1928 and half in 1942 the latter pruned double-Guyot. The 2010 Finca Mirador is from the Medrano sub-region originating from heavier clayey soils and aged in new French barrels for 16 months. The nose is more expressive than the Finca Bella Vista with cassis and blueberry aromas imbued with a sorbet like freshness and vivacity. After 20 minutes there is an estuarine oyster shell scent emerging. The palate is medium-bodied with very fine tannin

Dark racy and aromatic as hints of spice box cedar and underbrush highlight the pure blackberry cassis and raspberry flavors. Well-balanced as fine tannins and a long complex finish show off the wine s pedigree. Drink now through 2019. -NW Wine Spectator.

Good ruby-red not quite as lucid as the Finca Altamira. Rather wild aromas of tobacco pepper herbs roast coffee and game. Supple and surprisingly open-knit with a bit less energy to its concentrated dark fruit flavors than the Finca Altamira bottling is showing today. The least tightly coiled of the three top wines from Achaval Ferrer and likely to be the earliest drinker. 91+ Stephen Tanzers IWC.

(from 70+-year-old malbec vines planted at 2 400 feet; 14 hectoliters per hectare): Good full ruby-red. Vinous aromas of dark berries licorice espresso and minerals lifted by violet and rose petal nuances; aeration brought captivating spicy perfume. Densely packed and youthfully imploded and not quite as black in the mouth as the nose suggests. Penetrating aromatic flavors of red berries and rose petal convey an almost pinot-like vibrancy. Offers a lovely light touch but has a firm spin

Winemaker's Notes:

Finca Mirador is part of our research of "terroir" in Argentina. Malbec Finca Mirador is the result of the search for the best expression of that territory, one where the sum of climate, soil and grape variety are in a unique and consistent from year to year. The simple varietal expression is overwhelmed and subjugated by the force of "terroir" speaking from the depths of the roots.
