Editorial Reviews for Achával-Ferrer Malbec Mendoza Finca Bella Vista
Vivid violet color and almost opaque in the glass. This opens with intensely floral and tropical fruited notes and a touch of raw, black pepper studded bacon. A touch syrah like then a rush of freshly crushed wild raspberry greets the nose with an underlay of vanilla crème that is barely noticeable. In the mouth this is bright and vivid with blazing purity of fruit. Perhaps this lacks a touch of complexity but the wine feels very fine and energetic in the mouth with juicy acids and superbly polished tannins driving the wonderful berried fruit with a nuance of juniper spice. Finishes long and mouth cleansing with excellent clarity. 92pts
Started with a nice hint of pears, juiciness and a slight touch of acetone (similar to overripe Asian pears). Secondary notes of butter, vanilla and even lychee. The more I drank, I started noticing a nice smokiness and a hint of tobacco toe the flavors. It was a real pleasure being able to enjoy this Malbec.

The 2007 Finca Altamira was sourced from a 14-acre, 80+-year-old vineyard with yields of 0.75 tons per acre. It was aged in new French oak for 15 months. Opaque purple/black in color, it has an entrancing aromatic array of pain grille, pencil lead, scorched earth, truffle, black cherry, and plum. Opulent on the palate but with a bit more elegance than the Bella Vista cuvee, it is already revealing complex flavors along with its considerable depth, richness, and length. It will continue to blossom for another 3-4 years and offer prime drinking from 2013 to 2022. Gorgeous aromas of crushed plum and fig lead the way for this very dense but remarkably supple offering, loaded with additional blackberry and boysenberry fruit, all laid over Turkish coffee, violet, pastis, licorice and charred mesquite notes. This has a long, long finish. Best from 2010 through 2016. 728 cases made. -JM (100% old-vines malbec) Saturated, bright dark ruby. Very floral nose features violet, jasmine and licorice. At once dry and perfumed in the mouth, with a light touch to the intense blackberry and violet flavors. Quite brisk and extremely young, with elevated acidity in need of time to harmonize. The note of exotic flowers carries through to the vibrant back end. Reportedly from a crop level of just 12 hectoliters per hectare.
A barrel sample of the 2007 Finca Mirador reveals a wine with darker fruit, outstanding concentration, impeccable balance, and a sense of elegance.
94-97 points - Robert Parker's Wine Advocate: "The 2007 Finca Altamira should prove to be as good as the 2006, perhaps better. It already offers remarkable complexity in its alluring bouquet, layers of ripe fruit, savory flavors, and great length." 91 Points - Wine Spectator"Really vivid, with plum and fig notes laced with a bright violet hint. The lingering finish lets raspberry and pastis notes chime in. Fleshy and concentrated, but pure, with mouthwatering acidity. Drink now through 2010." (07/09)
A barrel sample of the 2007 Finca Mirador reveals a wine with darker fruit, outstanding concentration, impeccable balance, and a sense of elegance. It will effortlessly evolve for 4-6 years and be at its best from 2013-2030. Robert Parker's Wine Advocate. A Malbec wine from Mendoza in Argentina. 2007 Achaval Ferrer Finca Mirador 750ml
