Acanto Vinas Viejas 2007
External Review by Premier Wine & Spirits:
Acanto attempts to improve upon perfection by starting with 80+ year old Monastrell from the best region for that grape in Spain and then adding 20% Cabernet Sauvignon and 15% Garnacha Tintorera (more commonly Alicante Bouschet) for structure spiciness and deeper color. Ten months of aging in French and American cooperage results in a wine possessing amazing aromatics flavor richness and texture. It is easily one of Spain’s best red wine values.
