Acacia Chardonnay Carneros 2016

Winemaker's Notes:

"Speaking to the terroir of Napa Valley’s Los Carneros region, this 2015 Chardonnay opens with lush White Lady peach, Jonathan apple and citrus zest aromas with tones of warm honeycomb and oak. The wine expands across the palate in rich, silky layers of spiced baked apples and pear, with a hint of minerality appearing mid-palate. The flavors, perfecting an exquisite balance of lemony acidity and creamy complexity, then culminate in a lingering finish graced by hazelnut and oak spice from barrel fermentation and aging." - Winemaker's Notes

I had the 2007. It tastes like Frankenwine. Artificial oak and fruit. I was very displeased.

Good value. Acacia is close to achieving the same buttery notes from the crops in the late nineties.

A fine wine for the money. Nice tropical fruit flavors, along with pear, a nice minerally core, and spice notes. While not a wine to "wow" you, you could do far worse than this for everyday drinking. More in line with the California Chardonnay style than the Burgundian.

Winemaker Notes - Swirling our 2009 Chardonnay Carneros in the glass releases vivid White Lady peach, green apple, white flower and honeycomb aromas. Every sip reveals layers of baked apple and pear, green apple, white peach and hazelnut flavors that expand across the palate. Notes of hazelnut and toasted oak come from barrel fermentation, while sur lie aging adds weight to the luscious texture. This wine s bright, balanced acidity makes it ideal for pairing with white meats; seafood and freshwater fish; and creamy soups, pasta or risotto.

Winemakers notes: We've been making Chardonnay at Acacia for over 25 years, and we believe that great wine comes with experience. One thing we've learned over the years is that wine in its purest form expresses a sense of place. A by Acacia blends the virtues of California's great Chardonnay wine growing regions to create a balanced wine with aromas of pear and toast and rich, vibrant flavors of apples and tropical fruits.

Rating: 84/100 - As reviewed by Connoisseurs' Guide to California Wine (www.cgcw.com) in the September 2010 issue. While Acacia still makes some wines of intent and purpose, this very dull, slightly bitter-edged effort is not among them, and its distant, vaguely varietal, background fruit searches for both focus and vitality alike.Connoisseurs' Guide to California Wine aging recommendation: Drinkable now. Unlikely to improve with further aging.
